Railcar Factory
A Fusion of Heritage and Contemporary Excellence in Toronto’s Skyline

About the Project

The Railcar Factory project is a landmark development situated at 160 Front Street West, a prime location in Toronto’s bustling Financial District. This stunning 46-story structural steel-framed office tower was designed to make a bold statement in the city’s skyline while incorporating a blend of modern engineering and historical preservation.

A distinctive architectural feature of the tower is its curved cladding, which gracefully wraps around all four exterior walls, creating a fluid and contemporary aesthetic. The building’s design also honors the site’s history by integrating the heritage masonry of the original six-story building that stood on the location for over 70 years.

The expertise of PCL’s in-house building envelope specialists was key to the project’s success, ensuring that the complex design was both feasible and practical. Their innovation and meticulous attention to detail resulted in a remarkable structure that balances functionality with visual impact.

This project reflects the vision of Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited and demonstrates how cutting-edge modern architecture can harmoniously coexist with the rich heritage of the past, setting a new benchmark for office towers in Toronto.
